Resources to identify and provide critical needs-related services and soft skills training to support and retain the long term unemployed during training. These resources provide workforce practitioners with essential information about the critical role that needs-related services and personal effectiveness competencies play in achieving successful training completion for program participants.
In this presentation, a grantee shared its strategies for implementing, administering and delivering a highly successful supportive services program with an emphasis on preparing participants with soft skills. Traditional support services included transportation, child/dependent care, housing assistance and other needs-related services. Soft skills support included topics such as decision making, communication, work ethic, problem solving and teamwork.
